The process combines in one step the advantages of unsaturated vertical filters and saturated horizontal filters.<\/p>\n<p>Its additional advantages are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A <strong>smaller footprint<\/strong> than conventional vegetated filters, ie 1.2 m\u00b2\/PE for the treatment of carbon only and 2 m\u00b2\/PE for total nitrogen treatment;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Just one treatment step<\/strong> (usually two steps are required for partial treatment of nitrogen using the other types of filters);<\/li>\n<li><strong>No pumping for treated water recirculation<\/strong>, often required for partial treatment of nitrogen using the other types of filters.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>FILTRAN\u00ae highlights in comparison to other vegetated filters are an increased control of <u>total <\/u>nitrogen treatment and a low footprint, specificities that are scarcely met on the market.
